Great job grinding the draft! Started following during NFL draft season and it's been impressive to watch you pivot to NBA.

Thanks for your updates on the draft this past month. One thing I noticed on draft night was just how important the combine performances were. If you look at the "winners and losers" articles from guys like Givony, John Hollinger and Chad Ford, its pretty incredible how much that impacted the draft a month later. You go down the list and every guy that performed well at the combine (especially the 5 on 5) really helped their draft stock (Barnes, Primo, Hyland, Christopher, Grimes all impressed in those and were first rounders and Wieskamp too as an early 2nd rounder). Guys that had bad performance either went undrafted (Nix, Steward) or really hurt their stock (Greg Brown - mid-2nd round pick after being mocked in 1st round early on). Of course Sharife Cooper was the big exception, but understandable given his lack of size and poor shooting.

I saw that you posted my comment on twitter. Haha, you did not need to do that but I appreciate you giving me credit for that.

Just one point of clarification. These guys obviously arent getting drafted solely on what they do at the combine. Its just more of ok these guys can really play and they will likely continue to show that in the private workouts leading up to the draft just like they did at the combine.

Also great point mentioning the guys that chose not to play in the 5 on 5. I did not think of that. It was just one event, but a player's competitiveness seemed to be a legit factor for these front offices. Josh Christopher seemed to be consistently praised for playing in the 5 on 5s when he wasn't expected to.

Yeah I think there's a mentality surrounding this stuff in all sports. I remember in the NFL Draft teams loved that Jaylen Waddle played through an injury in the Championship game even though other dudes sat out healthy. Those little details add up.
